ride on lawn mowers
For much larger plots of land the recommended approach to lawn mowing is to use one of the several types of ride on lawn mower. These are far larger and far more powerful than the other lawn mowers described, and will allow you to cover a much larger area more quickly and efficiently, not to mention of course that you won’t be tiring yourself out walking in the process.
Basic ride on mowers are about the size of a mobility scooter and are designed to be used in garden that could really go either way between using one of these and a large petrol pedestrian mower. This type of machine has the advantage of the power and versatility of a pedestrian mower weaving in and out of spaces almost as small, whilst being able to carry the user at the same time. Obviously for their size these mowers don’t have the same level of luxury that larger ride-ons do, including increased power, right through to cup holders and fancy user interfaces, but those features are really only reserved for the level of usability and comfort required to mow an even bigger patch of land, over several acres or more.
Which brings us nicely onto the next step up in the world of riding lawn mowers, and that is the garden tractor. These monsters are typically capable of clearing large swathes of grass in no time at all, some even feature two contra rotating blades to allow them to do so. As mentioned above the endurance use of these machines means they are designed to be comfortable for far longer periods of time, featuring sprung seating and ergonomic controls.
Garden tractors are made even more useful by the fact that, as the name suggests they are able to carry out many of the same tasks (albeit on a smaller scale) than a tractor, such as towing and even tilling the ground. As you can see then, garden tractors border between every day domestic use and semi commercial agricultural activities, and although this is reflected in their performance it is reflected in their price also.
